Hey Joe, when the heater core blows the coolant has to go somewhere! I think the manufacturer took into account that in some part of the car's lifetime the heatercore would blow, so there's little sort of areas where the floor allows puddles of coolant to sit in just in case this happens.

VERY IMPORTANT! if you have suspisions your heater core has blown, don't drive it! The hole is likely to get bigger meaning pulling over to the side of the road. Here's the important part! When the car is angled up onto a towbed all of your coolant will dribble to the rear passengers footwell and will accumulate in a little puddle there just like in my picture, that little puddle is where your ABS computer sits and it will blow if coolant get's in it.
