A connected battery load comprises what is the equivalent of a huge capacitor, which will normally safely soak up an over voltage. A problem occurs when simultaneously with a high voltage fault, the fuse link is opened thus isolating the battery.

all the wiring is associated with the alternator if you are confused about what affect tripling the voltage has on wires and components when the regulator in the alternator is toast..
Really hard to tell what you are talking about.
