You have to get to it from underneath the car. The themostat is located at the front of the engine at the bottom, behind the housing that the lower radiator hose runs into.

Remove the belly pan and you will see where the thermostat cover (10160) connects to the lower radiator hose at the engine. Once you remove the two 10mm bolts that hold the cover, the thermostat (21200) and gasket (21236) can be removed.

You will need a bucket to catch the coolant and a 10mm socket. Be sure to let the engine cool down first and then remove the radiator cap.

Use an OEM thermostat and don't forget to get a new gasket as well. Both of these parts should be less than $15.00.





Put the old thermostat in a pan of water and bring it to a boil. Put a thermometer in the pan to see when it starts to open (if at all) If the water boils before the thermostat is fully open, it was bad.
