I would agree with Mike- an Outback, Legacy or Forester.

I have owned more than a dozen Sube wagons since the mid 80's and they are safe, reliable, fun to drive, and last forever if you feed them an occasional CV shaft or a brake job.

Be sure you invest in a nice fat rear sway bar (Rallitek's are nice) as it will positively transform the car and put that big smile on your face.
