Re: Timing belt parts interchangability?

Bump: Ok so im getting a nice used low mileage belt from a member here shortly, have installed my waterpump, cleaned the burnt belt off my idlers, and now I have to deal with the cam gear issue.

I have decided to yank the cam gear, clean it with solvent, and secure the outer ring back on with acid-core solder (-hears Tom shrieking-). The ring seems secure as is but I want to make doubly sure it will stay on.... and I dont want to pay $75 new for something I can confidently fix.

Now as far as the idlers go, they ARE supposed to have some pretty good resistance to spinning right? I mean theyre not supposed to spin like skateboard wheels correct? Mine are silent and smooth but take some effort to turn.... typical of a high speed bearing?

Once I get her going ill be happy like this
