I have had this mod done for years, it is pointless.
I have driven in the dead of winter with it on the open highway at a high speed and yes, it did stick open for a second or two on one rare occasion. There is still enough heat to dissipate any ice within moments, even with TB spacers.
Your results may vary, but probably won't.
