I would reconnect the resistor though, it will make it more progressive to how hard the throttle is on. Disconnecting it doesn't do anything, during the shift, just causes problems.
With the 3.7:1 that you have it will probably only do the one, first to second change, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. Are you going to run the Nos?
