As the line pressure does not change but the effective surface of the filter is increased, a bigger filter might work less efficient than a small one.

Don't think the slower speed that the oil passes through the area of the filter is a negative condition. If it actually comes through the surface at a slower rate, if anything at all counts, it could be only positive. The pressure to all the engine components will be exactly the same.

P.S. I went right out and checked out the taller filters and am going to give it a try. I am thinking that any difference may not be noticeable?
