It does increase fuel mileage, smoothes idle and restores lost performance but there are cheaper and equally effective alternatives. If that really is the issue check your fuel filter if you havent changed it, try Chevron Fuel System Cleaner because its the best, also if it is cold like it is here in Alaska dont run your gas tank past half or condensation will build up diluting your fuel with water giving you a rough start and idle so try some Heet Yellow or Red Bottle.
