My BS ghetto tuning assumption is this Tom. Your car is detecting knock due to you running lean air/fuel ratios under a heavy load, at low rpms (start off to 4000rpm). Your car then pulls timing dramatically and continues to pull. You need to either adjust your air/fuel ratios to the 11.5:1 - 12.0:1 range (Especially on the low end), put in race fuel or a combination of both. You need to have constant 11.8:1 air/fuel ratio at WOT throughout the entire powerband.

I believe you adjusted your fueling during a dyno run you did but I don't think the timing was advanced back to where it was previously (or further). Which is why you experienced power loss instead of a gain with the good air/fuel ratios.

Your shifting technique is another story. I am focusing on the power itself and trap speeds here.

So there you have it. I know, I know......you may have already disproved what I am saying now from a post earlier or something. Just what I concluded after some quick reading.
