Yes...that is substantially broken. Its safe to say that it needs more than a hood and fender. Looks like rad support, strut, right fraim rail, right wheel apron, and likely alot of unseen subframe and suspension damage
Its a shame the car ended up the way it did. It's beyond repair(For most people), but your friend isnt. Thats key
