It's like as if they were testing the market to see if the single colour cars would be as acceptable or as well fancied as the original ones with black roof and trunk.

I think the Japanese models went single colour in 94. Our Emerald (434) S40-II does not have a black roof.

James' website reckons that the S40 came in Peacock Blue (269) with a black roof. Having scoured Japanese websites, I have never found a single picture of a car in this colour scheme, so they must be very rare.
