I Checked the fluid when I got home, it was about 1/2 quart low, It
was dark by the time I got home, I could not tell what color it was.
If the shift lever is in 3 or D, the car will shift from 1st to 2nd, then shift out of second, but never goes in to third it just seems to free wheel or flare.
I have to keep the shift lever on 2, to keep it from trying to shift in to 3rd
and flairing.
Tonight I found that when it shifts out of 2nd and flares, I can pump the gas
and make the engine rev up and down, and it will sometimes go in to 3rd
and it will stay as long as I keep a steady speed, if I try to speed up it will
flare again. and If I come to a stop it will still flare when it shifts back out
of second.
My brother will be home tomorrow, and we are going to pull the pan off
the tranny and see what comes out.
Driving it around with only first and second reminds me of an old 2 speed powerglide.
