Yeah, it could be done. But you would have to go to an alignment shop straight away and get the alignment (toe-in) done.
I don't know a half-reliable way to adjust the toe-in yourself.

Whether a novice can do it depends on whether the novice has a decent pitman arm puller - you need to disconnect tie rod ends and they are pressed in rather well. I barely managed to do it with jcwhitney's puller and I did bent the puller, I don't think it will survive another job.
