When I worked at a newspaper in Vermont, one of the editors loaned her car to a reporter who needed transport to cover a story. After awhile we noticed a commotion out back, and by and by a couple of cops came in to ask if we'd noticed anyone messing around with this particular Ford that had been parked near our building. Seemed a car belonging to one of our office neighbors had vanished. We were shaken to think a car could be pinched from our lot in broad daylight.
Well, turned-out the reporter had gotten into the wrong Ford, and the key actually worked. She did say it had been hard to get it in the ignition, though.
