A bunch of 80's sports cars are pretty cheap and reliable. the MKIII Supra came out in late 1986 an the NA version has 200hp. A friend of mine bought one last week in NY for just $1800 and it had just 99K miles on the odometer.

The 80's 300ZX's are also inexpensive cars and pretty quick as well as the 80's MR-2's.

Good luck.

we had a 280 ZX long time ago, it was a 79, we bought it in the same year, nice car, but has the same problem of the SVX. weight coefficient !!! the car that you should get is the early 240 ZX, this is the real beast. My dad also had one when he was working in Saudi Arabia, instead of 2 carbs, he put 4 carbs !!! a small car + big engine = Dragracing trans ams !!!
