to get this thread back on track, it is mearly the load of the transmission keeping the shifter from going. Say you are on a slight to larger slant, the transmission is what holding it still so when you go to engage into gear, it will take a little effort to get it out of park. This will eventually hurt urs trans, so from now on, put your car in neutral, pull the parking brake up until the car is firmly held, the continue to put the car in park. The sticking of the shifter will stop.
