I suppose it depends on your definition of lean. It seems to run right around stoichiometric from 14.2 to 14.9. Best performance on a naturally aspirated engine is usually around 12.9. I ran a chip I set to right around that earlier and it made a great improvement removing all that "lag" we often feel. The fuel maps subaru used on the us model seem to be optimized for emissions.
