One of the other internet parts sources lists a hose that is described as running from a "pipe to the thermostat"...

I couldn't find it on the diagram. It would seem to me that replacing all but one hose in the cooling system with new would leave the last one very susceptible to failure, especially since they are over a decade old...

I just didn't want to tear the hoses off and come up one short.

There are bypass hoses up under the manifold which I have never replaced because I thought they only carried air (I could be wrong) as well as hoses down by the water pump which I replaced at the last water pump change.

The bypass hoses are 6 and 7 here:

The water pump hoses are way underneath on the water pump. If you plan to replace the water pump, or just feel like removing your timing belt, feel free to replace them.
