These were GM's compact cars other than the Corvair.
The engine was a GM/Alcoa design. It was advertised as nodular high silicon aluminum. It had removable cast iron cylinder liners and Alum. piston rings.
GM finally sold the tooling to Rover for the Rover 3500. I think because the engine was a dated design from pre-emission days and I suspect it was quite expensive to produce.
