Custom Pistons

Actually I think the difficult part in making a bunch of pistons is setting up the size and dimentions. The only difference between your pistons and mine might be a bit more off the top, so a group...

Back to the beginning

What about a group buy on some forged aluminum pistons? 8.5:1 compression should be good. Did you ever conclude whether the rods from the EG22 are compatible with the EG33? If they are then...

pistons

I wouldn't try it. In my post I said that if I used 2.2 liter turbo pistons on the SVX I would use SVX rings. I think others in this discussion say that the turbo pistons will not work well as far...

If LAN's calculations are correct and only 2.15 cc constitue the volume of the piston crown the compression ratio calculation is I believe:

553/(55.3 cc + 2.15) = 9.63:1

That is not enough. ...

Pistons

I know this sounds crazy but what about measuring the piston impression in some clay above deck at TDC, depending on what piston you are using, then measuring the water it displaces in the depression...

I would agree that the NAs would be difficult to work with. When you said 8.3:1 were you refering to NAs or Turbos?

I think this discussion has really solidified the need for custom machined...

Some Specs.

From my Chilton

Turbo Piston and Ring Specificatons the only differences are

ring gap

Top compression 3.3L (0.0079-0.0118) 2.2L (00079-0.0098)

Bottom compression same (0.0146-0.0205)

8.3:1 would be awesome. Are you sure you need the cut outs? Did you guys measure from the pin to the top of the piston and then from the top of the piston to the bottom of the cut out? You would...

Good Project

Agreed. I believe there is just a slight difference in the ring clearance specs. I'll look it up. I have heard of this being done, however, I heard that the compression ratio only drops to 9:1 in...
