Re: Randomly cutting out?

MAF is broken. Try to test with a known good one. Cleaning might fix it.

Almost positive I saw svxygirl in Dillsburg, PA today at 4:45pm. I was the obnoxious guy who pointed out the car to my friends when we were there.

Maryland plates claret with svxwn stickers in the...

Re: Tail center light bar foam replacement

What I did was that I used black electrical tape around all the edges of the bar and the back tail lights so that all the water run down to the bottom near the bumper where it should go.

Re: Mirror select illumi bulb

And, for those of us who don't have $60+ to blow on a switch just for some lights, replacing the bulbs is a fairly easy process.

You buy the bulbs from radioshack, cut the wires shorter, and...

Re: Tire pressure for 225/45/17

When I had BBS wheels on my car, I ran within 5lb of max tire pressure and kept the % difference between front and rear consistent with the badge on the door. The badge on the door, even for stock...

Re: hid vs traditional filaments,

Any bulb at over 5000k is going to have decreased light output due to the fact that now the bulb is wasting energy on producing that color. The best lumen/color temperature is between 4500k and...

Re: Front wiper on works on intermittent

Try a new stalk? I know that some of that control stuff is directly from the stalk itself.

Re: Intermittent A/C

Sounds to me like a refrigerant charge issue. Either the refrigerant is undercharged (the most common case) or it is overcharged.

In the case of undercharging, the compressor will not turn unless...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I drove my new Legacy in the snow yesterday. Granted, the snow wasn't laying, but it's the first time I've driven that car in the snow. I was impressed with the fogs (although, I still think I'm...

Re: How to read chassis number??

I have to say, that is one of the most thorough reads about the VIN number that I've seen in a long time. Great job, John.

Re: "stop lamp" light

If I recall correctly, the "BRAKE" light will come on if the brake fluid is low. However, the "STOP LAMP" light is a quite different animal and is not related to the fluid level in the slightest.

Re: 96 SVX Ignition Problem

As I had this issue once upon a time, I can offer a few things to check.

In this order I would check them (cheapest to most expensive)

1. The bolt that holds the positive lead to the back of...

Re: Sometimes the SVX does not feel rare at all, 2 Sightings in 2 days

Well, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there I suppose. I needed a new car promptly. I wanted a six cylinder, but there were none available. I'll just get it changed regularly and keep an...

Re: Sometimes the SVX does not feel rare at all, 2 Sightings in 2 days

05+ has a much lower chance of throwing up headgaskets than the 99-04 model. The 05 2.5 is the EJ253.

Re: Sometimes the SVX does not feel rare at all, 2 Sightings in 2 days

Strange. I'm on base every day and I've never seen that car. Heck, all the gate guards know me because of my strange car.

Too bad I'm not driving mine these days or you would have seen mine.

Re: Well, that's all she wrote, folks.

There's a locally available 2005 Outback 2.5i 5MT Limited that I'm going to be purchasing. It's white with all the options. It'll fulfill my desire to have a 5MT car, and give me that better mileage...

Re: Well, that's all she wrote, folks.

I'm thinking that I'll drop in a 4.44 eventually. I'll probably keep the car because of the discount I get on my insurance for keeping it (plus, it'll be the car that gets the young driver penalty...

Well, that's all she wrote, folks.

My SVX is slowly giving up the ghost. At first, it started with some slipping in 4th. Then, I noticed a bit of slipping in 3rd. Now, as soon as it tries to switch to third, the engine basically spins...

Re: Viscous LSD?

At 197,000 miles, mine still works.

Wikipedia isn't exactly the place I'd source for car information, plus that's probably in a general case.
