Re: Full Time Dash Vents

The original post never uses the word 'wire'. Further, 'hand' is used to describe the shape of the metal control plate attached to the air distribution box.

If you see multiple hands with wires,...

Re: Full Time Dash Vents

Well, that sounds real lazy, but if you actually looked and are confused, this might not be something you can do.

Re: Gearshift Maps

Hi Phil, You are probably right, but I have very good results with just changing the Drive Ratio value. Before your work, we were all pleased without even this change. You're not suggesting that...

Re: Gearshift Maps

All I can say is that the TCU will not tell it to shift up or down more than one gear at a time.

Re: Gearshift Maps

Now you're referring to gear 3 and 2? If your in 4th, that's the only map it will look at. This is an Apple II era computer. One thing at a time and wait for it to get the job done. I'm going to...

Re: Gearshift Maps

Are you looking at the actual hex values or Phil's graphs?

The horizontal lines you refer to are actually somewhat misleading. Phil followed the format established by Subaru in the service...

Re: Power Mode Selection

I recommend caution. I did investigate swapping an earlier TCU. The connectors do match. There were several wiring issues that I wasn't able to resolve w/o a OBDII diagram. At least one stopped...

Re: Power Mode Selection

I tried to be careful with my wording, because the car wasn't here to check. Now, it is. There is no power light, but the codes are read the same way. The ATF temp light flashes instead of the...

Re: Power Mode Selection

I've expressed what I know about our '96, an OBDII. Perhaps the '97s are different. If so, we'll have to be more carefull in how we ask the question.

Re: Power Mode Selection

Interesting question. Our '96 has no transmission info available through the OBDII interface. TCU codes are read the same way as OBDI. Are you sure the power light is deleted in your '97?

Re: ECU tune Transmission control unit?

Confirmed. I believe it is flashable, at least in theory.

Re: Gearshift Maps

Unless I missed it, the location of the lockup temperature hasn't been revealed. I agree it would be nice to know. I also don't get why they would have it set so high.

Re: Gearshift Maps

I have developed a Windows .NET app to download SVX ROMs.

If anyone is interested you can read about it here:

Re: Gearshift Maps

Thanks, Phil. This is personally helpful.

As was previously suggested, one could make sure that the 'C' solenoid matches the TCU, regardless of original configuration.

Re: Gearshift Maps

For information only:
I have a TCU that apparently is FWD. It has a big FC on the outside (compare to FB for the AWDs that I have). The board is missing power transistors Q523 and Q526, but...

Re: Gearshift Maps Thread Hijack

Your work may be interesting, but IMO, it doesn't belong here in this thread.
It has only marginal relationship to the transmission.
What would anyone need to monitor, in semi-real time, in the...

Re: Gearshift Maps

Such a difference could also be in the TCU electronics. Being run by the same code, but producing an opposite signal.

Re: Gearshift Maps

NiftySVX,

While what you say about standardization is correct, so is my statement that the Requirement focused on emissions systems.

Contrary to what you are sure of, there is no transmission...

Re: Gearshift Maps

Phil,

AFAIK, the US OBDII requirement was focused on emissions related systems.

I'm sure that we still have to 'bow three times and turn around' to get codes from the '96 transmission.
