Thanks for the vote of confidence, Cam. :-/

Should be ordering the wheel bearing soon.

Re: Wants to overheat

They expected to find the impellers sheared off, but instead found one end blued from heat, and a very difficult pump to turn.
How it didn't destroy the timing belt -> engine is beyond me....

Re: Wants to overheat

$150 timing belt?
O'Reilly has them for like $88.
I got the (lifetime reman) pump there, and will probably get the wheel bearing there, too.

Re: Wants to overheat

::UPDATE::

The new shop tested the CO2 levels in the coolant, and they were normal. (So much for "being right all the time  )

Re: Wants to overheat

It's at another shop now, they're testing for CO2 in the coolant.

Since someone brought it up...Any ideas on repair costs associated with this?
There is a serious likelihood that this '92 Pearlie...

Re: Wants to overheat

They called back, they think it's a headgasket (or both).
It will idle forever without getting hot, it's only when you give it a load it heats up.
They said this is because at least one cylinder is...

Re: Wants to overheat

Seems like the system was properly "burped".
Dropped it off for professional diagnosis.
Let's hope it's just a water pump...

Re: Wants to overheat

Doesn't seem to have been the thermostat. :(
I'm going to make sure all the air is out of the system, then it goes to a shop for diagnosis/likely water pump.
Thanks!

Re: Wants to overheat

Got the thermostat about done, that upper bolt is a PITA to see/reach.
Can't get the socket on it very well to snug it up.
Update when I get it done...

Within 10 minutes, maybe sooner.
It was in town, slow city driving with the a/c on.

Re: Wants to overheat

It was on its way to overheating. Not a bad gauge.
Thanks for the thermostat info, I'll check that.
If someone has a test for the water pump, let me know.
Here's hoping...
