Re: electrical problem

Dud confirmed! Corrosion along the edges of the board and a pair of leaky capacitors

It has been replaced with a functional box, and I'm no longer in limp mode! But now my FWD light is on...

Re: electrical problem

Aside from swapping it, any way to do a quick test (aside from pulling the codes) without pulling it out? Should I try and put in the FWD fuse, and if so to what end?

Thanks for the input, I...

Re: electrical problem

*buuuump*

So just got the car back from my shop; it was in primarily for non-electrical power steering issues and valve cover gaskets, but I also grabbed a TCU off of ebay and had them swap it in....

Re: electrical problem

Happened to me as well; both my interior and engine bay fuse boxes were completely fried (literally), as well as my gauge cluster. Cause was almost certainly the voltage regulator as referenced...

Re: Black '94 LSi owner looking ahead

Sounds like a solid route for me to go. You're right, I did put a lot of money into it in order to get it to run again – I should probably put the minimal work necessary to get it truly road worthy...

Black '94 LSi owner looking ahead

Hey all! It's been a while since I've visited the network, but I figure now is a good time to return.

My '94 LSi was my uncle's car until he passed away in 2011, shortly before I got my driver's...

Quick Stereo Question

Hey folks, its been a while!

Regardless of the fact that I *should* be saving up for new tires, and having money on hand for the inevitable mechanical failures headed my way as I approach 140k...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

In the midst of some electrical hiccups. Replaced the bad alternator two weeks ago, and had a short fixed after my 94 LSi didn't start.

Friday, I had the Steering, Battery, Brake Light(!), and...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Didn't start this morning due to a dead battery; had to drive the mother's Hyundai to school

Had it towed to the local garage, who replaced the alternator and fixed an electrical short in...

Friend in another lane at a stop light: I bet you don't have any blind spots in that thing!

I'm 18. My '94 is the same age as me. I guess he was close enough

Re: Exhaust rotting away...

Yeah, due to the tough inspection requirements of New York, I'm definitely doing to keep the heat shields in place. I'll probably try to solve the rattling by finding where the crack in the heat...

Re: Exhaust rotting away...

That's what I had suspected. When I took a look under the car today, I did look at the heat shield, but it looked ok to me. But my untrained eye might have missed something

So it looks...

Re: Exhaust rotting away...

The main thing that tipped me off is that I have developed a rattle at low RPMs... When the car starts cold, and when accelerating from a stop. I'd like to think that the exhaust is the cause of...

Re: Exhaust rotting away...

Conveniently, the SVX has filled that need  I'm in Orange County, NY by the way, and I took it to Curry Subaru in Westchester, which is right by where my uncle lived.

I did look under the car...

I was expecting a reply like that

I only took it there because he has seen the car a lot; I was told by a customer at the supermarket where I work that there is a mechanic (much closer to...

Exhaust rotting away...

Hey everyone,

I've been a lurker for several months now, since I inherited my uncle's '94 Ebony, but I haven't had much time to post; I'm a senior in high school, and things can get pretty busy.

Re: Every member please check in here!

I'm the proud owner of my recently deceased uncle's '94 Blackie LSi, which is in excellent condition, save for an oil leak (supposedly from the engine seals) and what I believe to be a broken...
