Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Yeah,

The drivers side was clean on mine too. The pass side was damaged because the mud guard was torn and there was a ton of sand and muck on the wrong side - naturally impregnated with road...

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Thanks again for your kind words. I have to admit, there are a few imperfections which do not show in the photos. But I am very pleased. It is rewarding to do all this.

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Interior panels and rear seat still to be installed.... and the whole car buffed at a later date.

Just hosed off all the dust and dirt.... Though not perfect, I am rather pleased with the end...

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Color matching turned out very nicely. See bumper/fender line....

9 different ingredients, each measured to the tenth of a gram.

I will let the clear cure for a month and then sand it down and...

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Thanks guys,

I think the door and trunk lid will be fine.... I only covered the repaired area with the base. So it's blended in those directions as it is. The bumper will be the thing to watch....

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Yeah, thanks - makes sense !

I filled a few pin holes and sprayed another sanding color (red) to get some contrast. I am quite pleased with the result.

I bought a gravity feed gun, a new air...

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

I thought I'd give it a try myself. If it goes bad then I will ask a friend to do it - he's a pro.

It looks almost as good in real life, I do not think I can get it much better w/o professional...

I had to do an emergency repair for the front fender supports.... not...

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

I have a cheap 70x400mm straight sanding block.... the SVX rear fender curvature is quite challenging.... so instead of getting a $150 adjustable block I bought an $8 stainless turnbuckle. Works...

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Re: Quarter panel rust repairs

Yes, I will replace the mudguard(s) - if the shipping cost is not astronomical.... it is a large but light part.... the arch protectors for sure.

I tried to get decent photos from the inside.........
