Re: Closest thing to the SVX?

Wow. Pathetic. If a person just uses high quality oils (a TOP synthetic) and replaces all the fluids regularly, they are the nicest, smoothest riding and usually the fastest car on the road.

Talking Re: Car not starting questions

Do the dash lights come on? The loose steering wheel might be the problem..or the Starter Relay may be bad. Anyway, check the C.T.S. switch, Battery ground that goes under battery (small black wire)...

Talking Re: Welcome to our newest member: Tokyo-KT

I'm thinking that there should be a forum here specifically on engine and transmission oils since I believe that not all oils are made equal.
One good example is Duralube. I give this engine...

Re: blue smoke

Same here. Several mechanics told me the cam seals and Valve Cover Gaskets are quite bad and the main cause of blue smoke at startup. Amongst other gaskets and seals needing replacement.
Rings and...

Here's the caveat though: When I ordered the OEM radiator...

Re: Initial hesitation

I hear that replacing that PCV Valve is tricky. My dipstick usually pops up a quarter inch after driving 10 miles so someday I'll find a smart mechanic that will do it without taking off the Plenum...

Re: glowing dash idiot lights

All this talk about glowing dash lights, poor power, fluctuating MPG and the infamous "shudder" or "no power" (idiot lights) on key turn.... found out after careful inspection that my own engine...

Re: Initial hesitation

Thanks Ryan. I sure hope it's just the canister for a simple fix. Another question I have for you though: Would air leaks in this canister cause a drop in P.S.I. pressure in my gas tank also?
Its...

Question Re: Initial hesitation

Hey Ryan, thanks for the info but are you replying to my post? I replaced my spark plugs with the factory Subaru spark plugs at between 110,000 - 160,000 miles and the originals replaced were still...

Re: Initial hesitation

WOW!! I found the source to the rough idle/RPM oscillation during idle..only when my car is idling though. While SVX is running I unplugged the inlet on my charcoal canister and it sucks air into the...

Exclamation Re: Initial hesitation

The start/clicking issue is usually caused by a bad ground wire somewhere. Mostly, that odd, short wire going from the negative battery post to the car frame just underneath the battery. Any corrosion...

Re: Subaru EG33 hammers all competitors

Oh, nice. Looks great...but the throttle body looks like aftermarket.

So, these engines are installed backwards on planes?

I've been driving my 1992 American SVX with the 'CHECK ENGINE' light on for 10 years...car always runs great!!!

But if it does cause some...

Re: glowing dash idiot lights

Check the ground wire that goes from the battery post and then goes underneath the battery to the frame. If wire has corrosion at all you found the culprit (I also call this the CHARGING GROUND WIRE)...

Re: The SVX and you

Change to a better oil. Ever since I bought my 92' in 2000 I've only used Amsoil ATF and it shifts like a pro ice skater..smooth as glass, strong like an Ox.
To add, the factory Dexron oil is not a...

Post Re: 94 SVX *New Owner*

Hi Brandon. Word of caution on that inspection: THEY COULD BE WRONG.

Just curious, but how does your 1994 run? If it runs bad and there is a loud hissing from under the hood..the problem is likely...

Re: Another SVX on BaT

Yep, my 1992 SVX has the tweeter ports (nothing in them!) heated seat connectors and mirror plugs that have no where to plug into.... amongst other plugs that go nowhere for auxillary upgrades.... 😛

That was interesting. I was just curious about this "sleeve lock regulator" babble when I looked at those pics. Glad I had mine fixed (regulator, locks and stuff) a long time ago and I remember that...

Thumbs down Re: $36 Replacement ignition coils?

This is why I only use OEM for anything electronic. Those thinner coils on aftermarket can't handle that extra amperage (giving you that illusion of better performance) while slowly FRYING the...

Smile Re: sputtering and jerky idle

@odepaj just hinting here, though it does sound like you may have a loose ground wire (Engine groundstrap) I'd advise replacing the groundstrap (about $5 - 10.00 from most parts stores) it's located...

Arrow Re: 2018 Subaru Alcyone Dragon Meet

I owned an XT-6 in 2000. It was the BOMB! I sold it because it needed an electrical 'upgrade' and new struts ($700.00 per strut) just too expensive
