Farewell

I joined this group a few years ago when I was given an SVX by an old friend. I had always appreciated his car, and he had recently gotten married and his wife despised the SVX (weird, but oh well). ...

Re: Top Gear USA

Went to a taping. Watched them all. Mostly "meh" but I thought two episodes stood out: the one about running moonshine and the one about how gm should bring back the roadmaster wagon.

I will...

Enjoying the SVX

My wife and I are in Dana Point, CA for a couple of days. I decided we'd bring the SVX on this trip, something we don't usually do (had it for two years, only put about 3500 miles in that time) as it...

Transmission - replaced fluid, got a weird sound

I'm really sorry to post another transmission thread. I've spent the last 30 minutes or so searching, and I give up and I'm just gonna ask.

I drained the fluid on my transmission. Got about 5...

Re: I shift into gear and it just...dies. Any ideas?

The manual is a royal pain to read for someone who isn't already familiar with everything... It seemed like there were two sensors and it wasn't clear what they did. Since I had a rodent in the glove...

Re: I shift into gear and it just...dies. Any ideas?

Well,

According to the service manual the sensor is located behind the glove box. So on Saturday I took the glove box out (yes, I know this thread is old, I've been busy) which wasn't fun, and...

Re: Band Adjustment Screw - Anyone have a picture?

It does seem to be mostly between 2 and 3. Does that mean tranny rebuild time? Anyone in socal do that for less than a king's ransom?

Re: Band Adjustment Screw - Anyone have a picture?

A sheepish thank you!

It is not clear to me how to hold the adjustment screw to keep it from turning when I loosen (not remove) the lock nut. Am I just hoping that it doesn't move?

Band Adjustment Screw - Anyone have a picture?

It seems like I need to adjust my band adjustment screw on my transmission as I am getting a bit of overrevving on upshifts. I looked this up in the service manual and this is what I see:

Re: I shift into gear and it just...dies. Any ideas?

Ok,

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was out of town, and then the Christmas season has kept me out of the garage for a while. So today I took a look at it, and here are some of the answers to...

I shift into gear and it just...dies. Any ideas?

The title kinda says it all. I start up the svx and it sounds great, and then I shift into gear and the engine dies and my dashboard lights up like a christmas tree. Anyone dealt with this before?...

Re: California members

I'm in socal, in the victorville area. I have seen one other SVX on the road here, a red one and I've only seen it once. I have a 94 burgundy pearl LSi AWD. Is there a date for the Death Valley meet...

It's official, and sad.

Jalopnik today posted the entire list of cars that were turned in as part of Cash for Clunkers. 123 SVX's went to their deaths for either $3500 or $4500. Here is the list:

1992 SVX 67
1994 SVX 10...

Re: first road trip in svx

I kept the stock wheels and installed Yokohama S.Drives in the stock 225/50/16 size and this car is amazing now. The handling is great, but the most astonishing difference is how much quieter the...

Re: Yokohama S.Drive or Bridgestone RE750?

Went with the S.Drives because they were $37 cheaper per tire, and my friend had a set on his WRX when we drove the crap out of it about a year ago and they rocked.

The first thing I noticed is...

Re: keep or sell?

It's a 97. Fix it and send your sister the bill. Also, check with your insurance as you pay to insure the car, not just you as the driver.

Re: New guy with questions regarding possible ownership of SVX

Personally this car is way more fun on twisty mountain roads than on the freeway. My 8 year old son has sat in the back seat and fit ok. We've never put our 11 year old back there.

It would suck...

Re: What tires for stock rims?

Perhaps I have overstated it when I say "occasionally" as what I mean is that it might snow once or twice a year. Last year we had the most snow we've had in thirty years, and there was snow on the...

What tires for stock rims?

Hey guys,

It seems like the last time anyone talked tires around here was 2005 or so. I have a 1994 that needs new shoes and there are 72 choices on tire rack in 225/50-16 so I figured I should...

9 Days :-)

I live in the high desert of socal, an unincorporated area of sbcounty known as Oak Hills. It's off the I-15 between LA and Vegas near Victorville.

I love the _idea_ of a manual...
