'95 SVX 5-speed

I've decided to part with my SVX. I just can't justify keeping it because I rarely drive it anymore, and I've got some other priorities now. Most of the pertinent details are in the template. I did...

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

I had the flywheel resurfaced. Yes I get it, don't do slip it and it won't smell. But you guys seem to be missing the point about how harshly it engages if you don't slip. If you slip it too much, it...

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

Anybody? I've got 100 miles on it now and all seems well, but still has a burning smell if you slip it too much from a stand still.

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

Alright so after more research and seeing bad reviews on the XTD and other cheap clutches, I went with "Competition Clutch" stage 2. It was $300 shipped on eBay. Decent reviews, but a fairly new...

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

On the XTD clutches, the stage 4 is only $10 more than the stage 3. Maybe I'll go with that and see how horrible it is on the street. If it's ****ty I can always order a lesser stage friction disk I...

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

Next stage up is a 6 puck, which I always thought was mostly for race, and would give kind of an "on or off" feel on the street. But I've personally never tried one, so maybe it's a misconception.

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

The XTDs aren't too bad a price, Maybe I'll try one of those. You went with the 6 puck stage 3? And yeah yeah you get what you pay for, but I seriously shouldn't have to shell out $400-$500 on an...

Re: 5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue

 $500+ for a clutch set?! F that, I'll throw in $50 friction plates every year for the next 10 years for that money

5sp Guys, Get in Here- Clutch Slipping Issue *UPDATE PG 2*

So I swapped in a 5sp from a 2002 WRX almost exactly a year ago today. I used an F1 stage 2 clutch i got on ebay. I've never used F1 Racing products before, but the reviews seemed pretty decent. The...

Re: Well, the SVX was nice and pretty for all of 3 months...

Colorado doesn't issue salvage titles after a certain year of vehicle, which must be earlier than '95 as the insurance lady told me my title would be fine. So no worries about that.

Re: Well, the SVX was nice and pretty for all of 3 months...

Insurance called me today, told me salvage value is $900. So they deduct that from the $3300 retail and send me a check for $2400.

It still kills me everytime I see/drive it

Well, the SVX was nice and pretty for all of 3 months...

And then on the day before Christmas eve, my neighbor backed into it. Some of you may remember the thread I posted back in October showing off the new paint and body work I just spent a couple months...

Re: 5MT in Colorado Springs Pull and Pay

Yeah mine is 5 speed. According to the decoder it's an 8 bolt 5 speed, but it doesn't say what model or year it's from. That's all I really need to know, as I need to order a new clutch for it.

Re: 5MT in Colorado Springs Pull and Pay

Alright, so the tranny code is 94-TY754VV4AA. I found this while searching for decoding, and it pretty well answers everything except what actual model it came out of-

Transmission identification...

Re: 5MT in Colorado Springs Pull and Pay

About 5 hours. I was all by myself though, so that was a bit of a challange wrestling it out. You're not allowed to bring jacks out there either... so it took some special engineering to figure out...

Re: 5MT in Colorado Springs Pull and Pay

Felt like the engine was locked up, it didn't budge once while taking the flywheel bolts off. That's the only thing I could figure.

Re: 5MT in Colorado Springs Pull and Pay

I'm going to head there in the morning and check it out. I've always thought about doing the 5 speed swap, wouldn't be a bad thing to have it all ready for *when* my auto gives up.

No such thing as too stealth for me! Ha, but really I just love the understated dark look. Here's how I painted my bike, which I actually do call my little stealth bomber. Its a Chrysler black with a...

Re: Finally repainted my SVX (yeah, me too!)

Sweet!! I'm usually not a big fan of orange either, but with the 2 tone on an svx, it looks really good. Did you have it done or do it yourself?

Re: Finally painted my SVX

I painted the wheels the same gunmetal color, but didn't use any clear coat. They pretty much look flat black, but when up close you can tell they're color matched to the body...
