Re: Reading 2024

I would also like to see some photos if someone have.

It's too far to drive there in my SVX, but it might feel like being there.
Nowadays, it is rare to meet SVXers in Japan.
The owners club...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Yes, Also called valve cover or tappet cover. Since the cylinders of BOXER engines are arranged horizontally, oil tends to leak from the cover. Gaskets are made of a silicone rubber-like material...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Head gasket problems are a serious problem. However, it may still be possible to repair it.

Oil leaking from the head cover is not that serious. I hope it's a typo, but...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

FYI, There is a company in Japan that rebuilds genuine shock absorbers. Technically speaking, it's not a rebuild, just an oil and gas change. They have patented oil and gas combinations of multiple...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

R1 is JDM only. The looks is similar to FIAT500. The displacement is 660cc, and there are three types of engines: SOHC NA, DOHC NA and Super Charged DOHC, and each comes in FF and AWD.

The seats...

Re: Engine Block Coffee Table

Since I have a other projects, it is progressing slowly.

Additional cuts were made around the No. 3 cylinder.

The cylinder block was clear coated to prevent rust. I painted it black instead of...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I completely disassembled a spare engine for my wife's R1. There was no excessive wear on the crankshaft or cylinders, so I plan to reassemble it with new STD size metal and piston rings.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

The area most likely to leak is around the high-pressure side hose, but if it's a small-scale leak, it might be around the low-pressure side. Have you replaced the 31260AG040 O-ring with a new one?

Re: Water pump replacements?

I'm currently overhauling another Subaru's engine.

I took a photo of the coolant leak, so I'm attaching it for reference.

This engine is a used engine that has been used for about 60,000km, so...

Re: Water pump replacements?

Please note that I am talking about a very small amount of coolant leak, not a loss of coolant. A small leak can see dry coolant on the underside of the WP. Usually it is green or reddish whitish,...

Re: Water pump replacements?

Hello, I understand the reason for the third outlet. Thanks.

And, I agree with quality of GMB. I used GMB WP for old SUBARUs (not SVX) and no problem for now.

By the way, the oil cooler...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Oh! I also think the world is small.

There are relatively well-maintained used cars in Japan. However, this is limited to cars that have a certain taste.

There are many boring everyday cars,...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I tried to repair the rack for VIVIO, which I removed due to an oil leak. The genuine repair kit has already been discontinued, so I disassembled it and found an oil seal of the same size.

Re: Water pump replacements?

Hi,

The point of this problem is that it is not clear which compatible WPs will fit SVX.

There are several third-party versions for sale on eBay, Amazon, etc., but I've heard from Mika and seen...

Re: Water pump replacements?

I'll add a few things.

I've never seen WP lock up. If there is a problem with the coolant, for example a large amount of rust, the impeller may lock up due to corrosion.

I have replaced WP and...

Re: Water pump replacements?

The main reason to replace the water pump when replacing the timing belt every 100,000 km is because it cannot be replaced without removing the timing belt. The life of the pump may be a little...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

You do not need hurry. As I told you before, you should confirm modified cruise control unit with actual car enough. If it has trouble, you need spare unit for a while though I believe that is low...

Timing belt covers are already discontinued few years ago. The tensioner pulley is also discontinued, but the bearing can be replaced.
