Re: Riddle me this...won't start

I don't see any mention of the fuel relay being checked either. Has it been checked?
Have they tried starting it with a fuel pressure gauge attached?

If they don't have a suitable gauge you...

Re: Riddle me this...won't start

If there are no codes they we can assume it is either a mechanical fault or the power to the ecu is not getting through.

Have they tried a compression test? Vaxuum test? (hard if it won't work I...

Re: Riddle me this...won't start

If the engine temperature sensor is faulty the ecu stops using it and assumes the temp is normal operating temperature.

Small detail but it means that the mixture should be fairly lean... not as...

Re: Catalytic Converter

Yes 1986, we agree.
I was just offering some thoughts to others trying to diagnose or wondering where to start diagnosing problems.

Re: Catalytic Converter

Hi,
my doubts were because there were no other symptoms being mentioned. That and the speed thing, most people notice the bad smell at idle.

Diagnosing is a mixture of theory, trying what's...

Re: Catalytic Converter

Have a sniff first, if it smells then it is probably what you were smelling.

Over charging is not always what makes them smell.
To test it you really just need to see what voltage it tops out...

Re: Catalytic Converter

Batteries can make that smell too. Might be overchargine perhaps? Take a cap off the battery and have a cautious sniff... don't burn your nose with acid fumes!

Re: tranny wont shift?

I think it would take both speed sensors to be defective for there to be no gears. Even then wouldn't it change if it got to red line?
Heres what a manual says about the older trans...

If shift...

Re: Right bank won't fire

Yes well there seems to be contradicting symptoms here.
Either it has no power, it has power, or it has intermittent power. I doubt that any of those will cause a motor to start and then slowly...

Re: Right bank won't fire

Wires hardly ever break mid length on modern cars. They are all routed and held too well. The commonest place for a break is where it bends coming out of a plug, so, if there is no obvious damage to...

Re: HELP!!! It's my car man. My car!!!

Some models have it in the kick panel, some have it in the dash, some have both Harvey.

He said he had already looked in the kick panel and it wasn't there.... It would be a good idea to look...

Re: HELP!!! It's my car man. My car!!!

They may be near the steering column. Take the plastic trim off from under the dash, just above your feet, and lay on the floor and look up there. They may be taped up and they may be on the top side...

Re: tcu to duty solenoid mod?

Putting it in 1st does increase the drive ratio to the rear wheels. It makes it "more aggressive" according to subaru. But, there should be drive there in any gear. As someone else suggested earlier,...

I would suspect your C.V. joints are failing, the left side probably.

Re: Clutch Binding, I know its been a problem :(

No lights, the fuse makes the noise goes away, it tells me that all the electrical and mechanical systems ar operating as they should be.

Are you sure you do not have a missmatched tyre?...

Re: Rearend noises...

Yes, put the fuse in when you get to the parking lot if you are worried about it. It's quite safe though.
If the fuse cures your thump then we know it is the AWD thumping and can beguin diagnosing...
