Hi Stephen,

The noise does sound like it is coming from the front of the car. Up near the engine / trans interface. It could be from the front diff.

I was trying out a few thing this...

Would that be the brake band is too tight or too loose? I did tighten the trans brake band another 1/2 turn when I had the engine out. That would be a total of 1-1/4 turns that I have tightened it....

Well, I put the 'NEW" used engine in my car and it's working fine. However there is a very strange noise when I down shift. It sounds simialer to something rubbing on some sheet metal at engine...
