Re: Steering Wheel Shake When Stopped

I'm with Crazy_pilot. I had a bubble or two of air in my system due to an engine pull...violent shaking! I ran the steering wheel lock to lock and it magically stopped. Worth a try, doesn't cost a...

Re: 'Battery warning' light with key out...

Just "Binged" AF-50-12252, and one of the sites listed it as a AMFOR part (looked like a tractor-trailor website). I did email Christian and hopefully he can hook me up with a new plug (no pun...

Re: 'Battery warning' light with key out...

Nothing wrong with being thorough!;) I really appreciate the input and part numbers. Couldn't find the connector on the link, but I emailed them with the part number you included in your...

Re: 'Battery warning' light with key out...

SVXCESS was 100% correct! Turns out when I reattached the alternator plug, I twisted it. The brittle insulation cracked off, and twisted the bare wires together. Had to do the electrical tape...

Re: 'Battery warning' light with key out...

Brown wire from alternator, thanks for the tip, will do when I get home tonight. Really need to give it another once over to make sure I didn't pinch any wires while I was cranking bolts down.

Is...

'Battery warning' light with key out...

Okay...Just drop the engine back in the car after replacing the torque converter seal (HUGE PITA!). Fired right up, purrs like a kitten, but there's something strange going on. The battery warning...

WTB: Power antenna

Had planned on rebuilding mine when the weather got nicer, and had been operating it "manually" taking it to the car wash. Drove into the bay and realize when the brushes started spinning that I...

Re: Rough Shift from 1st to 2nd @ Lower RPM

[QUOTE=1986nate;712345]May want to check your math. Last I checked 1997 was only 15 years ago ;)

Ooops! Math and Crown Royal don't mix (but Coke's okay) :D

Re: Rough Shift from 1st to 2nd @ Lower RPM

Well, even a '97 is still 25 years old. I read in one of the posts that a 25W 27 ohm resistor worked the best (original between 12-15 ohms). All I can say is that the part was cheap, the job was...

Re: Rough Shift from 1st to 2nd @ Lower RPM

If you can find a good used one, that'd be the easiest way to go. I bought one from Radio Shack (web only) for like a buck and a half, $8 shipped, and modified the original resistor bracket to...

Re: Xado

Kind of a blue paste in a syringe. Stick the tip in the dipstick tube and squirt it in there. I did it at work in the parking lot because I couldn't for the life of me find the tranny dipstick...

Re: Rough Shift from 1st to 2nd @ Lower RPM

Mine had the hard shift b/t first and second since I bought it. Got the TCU from Ecutune, helped a lot for the higher gears, but still rough b/t first and second. Checked the resistor, open circuit...

Xado

Not sure if anyone here's heard of an additive called Xado EX120 for automatic transmissions, but it seems to actually work. There's a ton of "snake oil" products with huge claims all over the...

Re: Car stuck in Park

Okay, this might sound ridiculous, but are you depressing the brake pedal when you're trying to go into gear? Won't go anywhere if you don't.

Re: SVXY needs brake work

Yeah, I know, you're thinking WTF!! This is an old thread! I was doing a search for the brake hard line size and noticed that this guy's brake lines rusted in the exact same place as...

Re: DAAAMMNN!! That was scary!!

Going to have Isaac rolling up here this weekend, so I'm going to limp it up to a buddy's garage, and get started on it Tues. (next Tues. that is). Doing the ECUtune TCU and Stage one while I'm at...

Re: DAAAMMNN!! That was scary!!

Agreed! Got my SS braided lines from Planet SVX (plus a TCU and Stage I from ECUtune), but going to custom make the hard lines. They definitely won't be going the original routing. Tearing into it...

Re: DAAAMMNN!! That was scary!!

Actually, once I got it home, it was dark. The next morning I figure (read:hoped) that I'd see that one of the calipers had let loose...no such luck, all wheels bone dry, nothing on the ground. ...

Re: DAAAMMNN!! That was scary!!

Yeah, I guess stuff like this is to be expected with a 20 yr. old car, especially in the midwest. I already ordered the lines, but what you did sounds like a good idea. And for any members that...

Re: DAAAMMNN!! That was scary!!

Still pulling seat leather out of my a$$!
I imagine I'm going to have to pull the whole rear end out, and half the engine compartment to replace them, put I've kind of lost faith in the 20 year old...

DAAAMMNN!! That was scary!!

If it's not one thing, it's another on the car. I just got it back from the muffler shop ($600) with a manifold back, Magnaflow exhaust...sounds a little "ricy", but I don't mind. Found a back road...

Power light flashes 16 times?

Just got the car running again after two years. Seems to run fine except for hard shift between 1st and 2nd (band adjust?). But since I first fired it up a couple of months ago, I've been getting...
