Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Noriyasu, the replacement steering rack looks good! I have to unwrap mine as its been on the shelf for one year.

The paintwork also looks great. I need to do the right mirror on my SVX due to...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Replaced the radiator cap today and checked on the shop making my new heater core. My other project car is waiting on parts, so I'm going to pick up working on the intake manifold and hoses tomorrow.

Agree with Noriyasu’s assessments.

Replace the clamp. clean up the area well. Monitor, then catch up on the deferred maintenance.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Is the IR key the version with a gray button? If so, then at least I have one IR key for my car.

Re: TPS, Crank and Cam Sensors

Hi Noriyasu,

I bought two.

I can send you the sensor with the cruise control computer once I swap that out.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Thank you for the information.

The key unfortunately did not come with the unit.

I'm aiming for functioning power locks, and disregarding the keyless aspect as something that's not worth...

TPS, Crank and Cam Sensors

I'd like to have spares on hand. Let me know if you have spares you're willing to sell.

Thanks!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Bought a door lock computer and a JDM wiring diagram on yahoo auctions via buyee, which has been great to help ship parts from Japan.

I brought the new stainless tubes to the radiator shop today...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Thanks Noriyasu. My next move is to try and locate a door lock ecu, then, as mine is missing, if it belongs above the glove box.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Noriyasu, does your SVX have a security module in the dash? My dash wires were altered in some way and no module is present. The power locks/actuators also do not work, but the locks themselves do.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Chris Townsend keeps the lights on. I reached out to him to find out.

Yesterday, I picked up new leader tubes for my heater core. Tomorrow I am bringing the core itself back to a radiator shop...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

That's a good tip. I'll put a hand vac pump on to make sure it moves. It was running well, before, so I suspect it is fine. If there is an o ring for the valve in my engine seal kit, I will change...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today, I pulled off the intake manifold to replace the coolant, fuel, and vacuum hoses located underneath. I decided to do this when I realized all hoses I was interacting with in the engine bay had...

Re: Tachometer RPM's Reading Low

Oof. I am not looking forward to that one. I was promised a spare when I bought this car, but that never happened. I have been keeping an eye on yahoo auctions.

Were you able to repair your 4ws...

Re: Tachometer RPM's Reading Low

It may be worth mentioning, though unrelated to the OP: I forgot to mention that I ran into bad capacitors in my climate control unit, too. Also had a friend help me repair that.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I did successfully replace the two flexible hoses between engine and transmission today.

I have not attempted to source the two longer hoses.

Which of the hoses are you unable to get,...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

During the forum's downtime this week:

I brought my heater core to a fabrication shop, actually two shops: one for the tubing and another to make the core itself and braze/weld on the tubes. I am...

Re: Tachometer RPM's Reading Low

Mine turned out to be a capacitor issue. I swapped the tach out for another unit that works.

I ran into a similar behavior with my speedometer, and it was capacitors leaking, too. A friend...

Re: Tie Rod Ends

I am not sure this Yaris tie rod will work. It appears to be a couple inches too long, but I will check the adjustment range and report back.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Extracted the heater core box and pulled the core from the box. Evidence of coolant residue on the core, so the unit was definitely leaking. I'll be brining the heater core itself to a radiator shop,...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

The shape/depth of the SVX dash makes it particularly awkward to lift out of place. This time, I dropped the steering column down, but, didn't have the seat slid all the way back before the battery...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Pulled the dashboard from my SVX today. I've done it, a long time ago, but its still a challenging job. Followed the FSM = made the job seem easier than in the past. I recommend two people to lift...
