18 gauge = 1.0 mm
16 gauge = 1.2 mm
14 gauge = 1.6 mm
SVX uses a 1.5 mm fusible link
A 16 gauge fusible link will work fine.

I adjusted mine to stop at the bottom of the windshield without resting on those rubber rests. As you stated they deform my blades.
