The applicator pad it came with was not really working for me, I ended up applying it with a rag, seemed to go on smoother.

Taking Johns' advice I decided to redo my steering wheel. I first used a dish sponge the kind with a mild scrubby pad on one side. With the pad side I removed all the dye I had previously put on it....
