Thanks,

So is there anything else that needs to be changed out while I'm there? I've done all the other seals on the front and sides...

Re: FINALLY finished my VC seals and TB swap... Looks like I need a rear main. $HIT

Yes, I was planning on just replacing everything back there :)

So, to do that I need the rear main oil seal and the separator plate, right?

Here are the parts I'm seeing at SubaruParts.com...

Re: FINALLY finished my VC seals and TB swap... Looks like I need a rear main. $HIT

Are there any write-ups on this? I'd love to do this, but I'm just not sure if I can spare an entire weekend of work that will inevitably run into multiple weekends of work...

Re: FINALLY finished my VC seals and TB swap... Looks like I need a rear main. $HIT

Well, I'm back at this again... after a year of hemming and hawing, I've decided to fix this once and for all... The oil leak got worse and worse and now it's smoking pretty badly. I need to get...

Re: OK, I've decided to fix the oil leaks... What else should I replace?

It is 10 per side... do not skip on these. It's crazy that they are so expensive, but you do NOT want to reuse the old ones. They will be brittle and will not seal well.

Re: Replaced my tranny filter, now my pan is leaking...

I used Permatex Ultra Black RTV as that was what I had left over from my oil pump housing... I did buy a large tube of Red Permatex in a caulk gun format so I can lay a consistent size bead this...

Re: Replaced my tranny filter, now my pan is leaking...

Well, I went after it with a Scotch Brite pad and it seemed to work pretty well. I have all the RTV off of the mating surface, now I just need to get the last bits out of the grooves.

Now, for...

Re: Replaced my tranny filter, now my pan is leaking...

None of the bolts were stripped as I got proper torque on each of them. I do need to check into the bends though...

I've been using a razor blade, but I can't really get into the grooves with...

Replaced my tranny filter, now my pan is leaking...

Hello all,

I finally replaced my tranny filter and after I got the pan back on and tightened I'm getting a pretty significant leak out of the back right corner.

When I replaced it, I...

Re: Time to do the timming belt/water pump!

I was pleased with the timing belt and the pulleys, but I was not pleased with the Prestone water pump. The thermostat didn't fit very well in the housing. I made it work, but had a one been...

Nope... I'm 95% done, there is no stopping me now! I'm either driving or selling this car once I'm done!

Re: Trying to remove my tranny pan... it's STUCK...

OK, so apparently there is no gasket for mid year 1995 and newer, you are supposed to use sealant. The pan part number even changed at that time.

According to Subaruparts.com there is a change...

Re: Floor mats... are they still available?

Dear lord, that SVX font looks like $hit... I wish they could get the factory script embroidered. I guess it's $80 for the fronts without the logo... I might go that route... Damn, I really should...

Re: Floor mats... are they still available?

Those look like custom fit mats, not the generic ones... Not shabby. Weathertech makes good mats!

Are the factory floor mats still available? If so, does anyone know what they cost? Thanks.

I finally got the pan off yesterday. I'm in the process of removing all the red RTV... what a pain.

I bought the Pro-King transmission filter kit from Advanced Auto Parts, but the one they...

Re: CV headlight restorer

VERY, VERY pleased with the results of my 3M kit. It didn't remove the deep micro cracks in the lenses, but the yellow is gone and the car looks great. If it lasts a year, I'll be happy as a clam....

Re: My 92 SVX blew a water pump, help me please

As SVXFILES says, it's not hard, it's just time consuming. There are no special tools needed, just a lot of seals, and other parts that should be changed. The only thing I had any issue with was...

Re: Trying to remove my tranny pan... it's STUCK...

Re: Suggestion on ATF... Should I just use Castrol Multi-Vehicle ATF?

How many quarts of tranny fluid are required for a full flush? I did a drain and I extracted a total of 7 Quarts, but I'm pretty sure there is a lot more, right?
