well hard to know till they open it and look but if its just backlash your looking prob around 100-200 if its bearings it will be a little more and if the gears are not meshed correctly it will be...

it also could be the carrier bearings. either way the diff will need opened up as long as you are sure the noise is coming from the rear center. before you go down that road you might want to try and...

ok well that could be your backlash is set too tight. when you swapped the gears in was there a little bit of play between the ring and the pinion? you can take it to any shop thats works on...

when you put your 4.44 gears in the rear diff did you check the backlash and pattern? how long has it been humming, since you did the swap or just recently?

well a hum sounds like in the differential or wheel bearing. unbalanced drive shaft doesnt really hum it just causes vibration, now i did get a noise every now and then from the vibration in my...

well finally figured it out.. first of all i started getting a clicking noise from the bell housing. pulled the tranny and yup sure enough broken flex plate, thought maybe that was the vibration.....

also noticed i have some tranny fluid leaking out the rear seal and dripping on the exhaust. dont know if its related or just need to change the seal

sorry for long post.... to simplify i get vibration starting at 30 mph and is a pulsating vibration, then stops at around 40 mph. it happens under load when i let off the throttle it goes away.
