Re: Car intermittently won't start

Found the problem!

It wasn't starting again this morning. I couldn't hear the fuel pump so I squeezed the fuel line to see if it was under pressure and it didn't feel like it. So I assumed that...

Re: Car intermittently won't start

I should specify that the MAF was refurbished a couple years ago with no issues since. But I will check it. But I am pretty good at soldering. I will also check the TPS as that is easy to do. ...

Car intermittently won't start

No symptoms. MAYBE the car was down a little on power in the morning. Maybe. Drove 20 minutes from work to Harbor Freight. Ran well. Idled well. Restarted fine. Drove down the street to Lowes....

More info. When I got home I put my charger on the battery. It tests the battery and said it was a little low but ok. At idle the voltage on the battery was 12.3V with the AC on and door open and...

Did you ever get a chance to check out your door? I still need to either get new doors or get mine de-rusted.

Transmission computer question

Can a 1997 TCU be used in a 1996? Both are OBD 2 so I assume the wiring is the same.

Re: OBDII Mt conversion???

I will PM you later today. I have a lot up in the air but that it a tempting offer. You must be young and skinny to be confident in being able to swap it out that easily.

Re: OBDII Mt conversion???

I tend to agree. It is probably a blown cap. Where in NY are you? Maybe I can swing by and pick up your TCU, if you still have it. I will pay you for it if it works.

Re: Need help on transmission diagnosis

Are you talking about TC lock and unlock? That's what mine is doing and, yeah, I have been assuming a worn TPS. I have the one I got in the junkyard that I am hoping will last a while.

Re: OBDII Mt conversion???

Ironically, I am getting a P1702 code! I never saw this post until now. Thanks for the Kudos. You finished what I started and did it exactly how I would have done it. Good work!
