Re: Reading 16. I don't know about you...

It was great to meet everyone and finally put faces and cars to names at my first Reading. You guys are a great group of people and it won't be my last Reading trip. I should be back in an SVX after...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally got mine out of the driveway!

...with a flatbed...

She should be running sometime in the future, though.

Re: SVX can't climb hills

Wasn't the temperature sensor.

Anyways, peace out, girl scouts! I'm going to get it to Nate in a few weeks and we are finally going to get to the bottom of this. I'm going to clean my mind...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

Tomorrow is my last day of shenanigans with her, since I leave Friday night for break. I'll pop a temperature sensor in and check for any change, since that seems to be the biggest variable I can see...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

There are more secondary issues than I'd like to admit lol. It's a work in progress that I'll be spending my summer on. I did the oil change over Christmas and didn't see any shavings then, but I'll...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

I did some work today. I took the driver side cam sensor out and found a few interesting tidbits. First, there were some metal shavings on the magnet end. More importantly, though, I found the...

Re: Problem w/PRW radiator

I know very little of metal fatigue or aluminum welds, but I have a potential theory. It may have some legs, and it may be utter garbage. Let me know what you think.

I've found the SVX lower ride...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

I would love to access the diagnostics port. Do you mean with something like Evoscan or the likes? I don't know much about these systems, but if they work on the early 90's pre-OBD2 Subies, then I'll...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

I'm not going to lie, I have only a very vague idea of how most of the emission system works. How would an EGR failure cause these symptoms?

Considering the EGR system depends upon vacuum lines...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

It's definitely worked it's way towards the top of the list, but the engine should at least run with a flowing "exhaust". If I'm wrong, somebody tell me.

My plan at this point is to get her back...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

We were so sure that it was clogged cats that it was easier to drill and made more sense at the time. (Read: I am not a smart man) The O2 sensors were also in pretty well and I couldn't get the...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

So the last 24 hours have been pretty weird.

I was on my way home when she started to cough. No problem. I just shut it off for a while and went on my way. Except this time, it only went 100 feet...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

I actually didn't know that either. That's wickedly awesome!

Here's hoping. If it fires up and works correctly with ventilation before the cats today, I'm buying a victory cigar and enjoying...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

I went to see Nate today and the decision is it's the cats. I always thought my exhaust looked a little weird and different, but didn't think much of it.

Guess who's cats have been replaced with...

Re: SVX can't climb hills

You guys have been great through this. It does climb hills, it just seems coincidence that it died on the hills the first few times. For the first miles of driving, it will handle everything...

Re: Research and development (help wanted)

While we are doing this work, has anyone thought of putting some of the parts info floating around in this forum into one spot? Such as a spreadsheet with a listing of parts and what part numbers or...

Re: Custom Information System

I love when I come up with an idea and then see someone else already has a solution :D

Note to self: An investment in Evoscan and a cable is a good idea

I said I wanted to laugh, not end my life by becoming one with nature when a tree stops me

Though that would be fun... :D

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

So I've heard lol.

Though I would love a Subaru powered original VW bug at some point. Just for the laughs :)

Re: Finally bought one of my dream cars...

I haven't been bitten by the Evo bug for the same reason I haven't been bitten by the VW one. Just not enough money for those.... yet ;)

But even I have to admire that. Sharp looking, mate. Enjoy!

Re: Custom Information System

I probably should've specified that if I were to do this, it would be for the OBD1 cars, otherwise I'd just plug that in and call it a day

Re: SVX can't climb hills

I've never seen anything like this, and with the condition she was in when I bought her, just about anything I touch has a good chance to be bad. I'll check those resistances and check the driver...
