i would start by removing the aftermarket alarm. if it's anything like the usual best buy hack job install then it's likely to be part of your problem.

the light should come on for a little bit when you first turn on the key. it will flash a bunch of time (16?) if you have any transmission codes. probably have to get the light to work before...
