Re: Wheel opinion please

Yeah looks better than I expected. I don't think I could live with the lack of symmetry from side to side though. I'm sure it's hard to notice, but I would know.

Re: Torque Steer

I don't know what it could be other than a failing/failed front differential. Does it always pull on the same side or is it random every time? Rapid back and forth? IDK if it would make a difference...

Re: Any one/shop that does 5spd conversions?

^What he said!

5 speed SVX isn't a rocket, but it's an absolute pleasure to drive and zippy enough. I recommend using 2nd gen Legacy stuff (brake booster, pedal assembly, clutch hydro cylinders,...

Re: I am ready to blow this car up. Won't start now.

How old is the battery? If not old, or if it is, check the connections. My Impreza did that when the negative connection was hardly loose at all.

I hear ya on the head gaskets. That's my winter...

Re: ~20 SVX lot for sale

I understand you wish for everything to go as a lot, but if you're willing to part with a stock exhaust setup and a pair of heads I'll drive down and see that you get what they're worth.

Re: Replacement Parts Development Fund

This is a great idea, hope it comes to fruition. Perhaps we could include the manufacture of parts like a 5/6MT crossmember, or some turbo stuff? Just throwing it out there, I know they might not be...

Re: Windshield cowl removal for debris cleaning and rodent proofing

Nice write-up! I'll have to do this soon as my cowl is disgusting.

Also I have rodent problems, but they managed to get from behind the dash (droppings on gauge cluster and radio, chewed up...

Re: Subaru EG33 hammers all competitors

Just curious, did you look into the EZ30 engine before selecting the EG33? I only ask because the EZ is much lighter and more compact with a similar power level. Was there a massive benefit to the...

Re: Need Help

If you had found a manual turbo baja, I'd say do it. Super rare even by SVX standards and a neat car with a 4.44 five speed. But at the end of the day, as blacky said, it's an outback with the back...

Re: Turbo, piggy-back, and EG33 boost questions

+1 for the gear change. I have a 99 Legacy GT 5 speed in my SVX and I would describe the acceleration as 'frantic'. It's certainly not the fastest thing on the road but it pulls like a train from 2k...

Re: infamous 5MT low idle stall

Isn't it strange how some people get it and others don't? Seems to me it's either an electrical issue or a mechanical condition. Basically people don't get the wiring JUST right (missed a ground or...

Re: Project Berserker

I was convinced to join RS25.com by a guy I bought a BUNCH of parts off of, and I started a members journal for my Impreza. I'll probly update that one primarily just because it's a site for...

Re: infamous 5MT low idle stall

I believe it's already been proven to be the Idle Air Control Valve (not sure if auxiliary or main) that can't open fast enough when the clutch is pushed in and the rpms start to fall. Someone in...

******* rodents chewing wires!!

I'm assuming the Speedo/odometer and the lights work? Are you experiencing any other electrical maladies? Have you modified the car at all?

Alternatives

Try to find some pedals from a 2000-2004 Legacy.
All you need to do is nip off a half-dollar sized nub from the backside of the clutch pedal arm to clear some wiring (literally 60 seconds with a...

Upon closer inspection of the newer parts, I found the section of the rear timing cover that seals against the water pump was gouged up pretty good. My old one may be dirty, but the mating surfaces...

I finally unwrapped the engine I picked up from Craigslist. It's much cleaner than the one I already had, but somewhere along the line some dirt/grit found it's way into the unprotected intake ports....

Any headway on this? I hope to reseal my EG this winter, and would appreciate any insight into potential problem areas. My SVX tends to mysteriously leak oil as well. I've replaced the PCV and added...

Wiring

Got the front H6 brakes on, bolted up with no issues. This thing stops!

...And then there's the wiring. It turns out I picked up a VDC setup. I have read these can be a pain to swap/convert/what...

These exact symptoms happened to my SVX a few months ago. Got to the point where if I sat there and I was LUCKY it would crank one in about 50 turns. I replaced the starter(?) relay under the dash...
