Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I GOT MY A/C FIXED!! For some reason I thought the car was still running R-12, and then it hit me on Friday that R-12 systems don't use quick release fittings, so someone in the past must have...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I ended up pulling the transmission back out again and swapping the TQs, so now I have the SVX flexplate and TQ in the car. The donor car was a '96 Legacy LS 2.2, so I don't know if that qualifies as...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

So, because I never got an answer about the torque converter differences, I went ahead and used the one the 4.11 came with (mainly because seating a TQ is a pain, and this one was already in place)....

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

The engine is a 2.2, so I'm led to believe that it's a 4.11. I've read that one should stay with the SVX TQ unless there it was contaminated. the fluid that came out smelled a little burned, so I...

Re: Rear Differential Bushings.

I loathe bringing up dead threads, but it's better than starting a new thread on a subject that's been covered before.
I'm trying to replace these bushings (for obvious reasons):...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I figured the 3 day weekend was a good a time as any to find a replacement transmission for my SVX. Pick-N-Pull happened to have a totaled Legacy with 82,000 miles... it also helps that they've got a...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

That was my thought too, and I had plans to go find one at a junkyard yesterday - but, as I stated above, I didn't want to risk frying the transfer clutch because the tires weren't matched. I figured...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I didn't see any point getting a new transmission when the tires on the car are 3 different brands, and even though their sidewalls claimed to be the same size, none of them looked remotely similar...

Re: Symptoms Of A Dead Time Control Unit

Well, I am an idiot. Okay, I shouldn't be so hard on myself, but really, you'll all get a laugh out of this.
I wanted to make completely sure the Time Control Unit was faulty before digging it out...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

SVX_MY_BABY said he wanted a full report on my car's first road legal outing, so here it is!

Drove to the inspection station, everything checked out (as expected), and then I went home to clean...

Symptoms Of A Dead Time Control Unit

Evening all,

I decided to make one last check of everything to make sure my '92 is absolutely ready for inspection this weekend, and I've noticed a few things that are making me believe the Time...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I know I just posted yesterday, but I put a few more hours into my SVX today, and I can safely say that it's finally 100% road legal! Once I get the interior back inside the car, it'll get insured,...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Huh... could be; I've always heard the best way was to open the sunroof and blow some compressed air up the tubes; unless of course they're cracked or disconnected - then it won't make a difference...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

It was a nice day today, so I decided to install the wiper module I finally got around to ordering last week. Needless to say, it fixed the "wipers don't work" problem; so with that put the wiper...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Wow! And I thought I was the only one who still used a Zune! Do you have it hooked up through the AUX port or do you control it through the head unit?

Re: No 2nd gear?

When I put the shifter in D, the RPMs get around 4K before the car starts to move, and it moves slowly.
In 3, with the manual button pressed, it takes off very slowly - pretty much like it does in...

No 2nd gear?

Good morning all,

I bought my '92 Claret under the premise that the only transmission problem was either a bad TCU or solenoid because it was stuck in limp mode (3rd gear & reverse only). The guy...

Re: exhaust system.

I'm no expert on the subject, but from what I've seen in researching exhaust for an SVX, the only aftermarket option is Stebro, which is very expensive and harder to find than our cars.

Generally...

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hi all! I said I'd get around to introducing myself in my Technical Q&A post, so here I am.

My name is Cory, and I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. My car is a '92 Claret (no idea what...

Wiper Issues

Hi all! Being that I'm fairly new here, I ought to introduce myself, but I'll get to that in a bit.
My car is a '92 Claret (no idea what trim level it is, but it doesn't have a spoiler if that...
