For FREE: set of SVX wheels

Anyone need a spare set of SVX wheels? I sold my SVX a few years back (:() but the new owner only wanted the STi wheels that were on it, so I've got a set of SVX pinwheels left I forgot were stacked...

Re: FS (Reno/Sacramento): 1994 SVX LSi AWD, Barcelona Red

Well the car sold today. :( For pricing reference to the community, I was able to get my asking price but threw in a set of wheels and tires.

Car went to a nice guy who's a Subaru enthusiast, so...

FS (Reno/Sacramento): 1994 SVX LSi AWD, Barcelona Red

SOLD!

I've had it listed before and couldn't go through with selling it, but even though it's literally the car I've enjoyed owning the most out of all the cars I've had, it's time to part ways...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Keep in mind that because the kit changes the starting offset up front, ideally if you're going to use low offset wheels instead of spacers, you would need to have low offset up front only, and...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Thanks again Shaun! I'm stoked someone is going to run with this idea.

My guess I'd that a nice water jet cut version of the adapter would be a benefit, especially if you can slim it down a bit...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

That's precisely how StopTech calipers work. Willwood too if I'm not mistaken. Unfortunately, custom machining of those brackets tends to be non-trivial as they need to be machined in two...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Thanks for the support!

I don't know that I'd call this "a fail" though. The brakes worked great on the street... reduced stopping distances, great feel, an I never noticed the shudder issue. My...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

I already put some Whiteline sways on the Outback, front and rear... but I did get the AVO heavy duty rear bar mount. I could have bent the stock mount with my hands... I can't believe how flimsy it...

An update on the wobble/shudder issue:

Basically, even with the tightening of the loose tie-rod ends, at the track, the car...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

I'm not specifically familiar with either those wheels or tires, but based on the dimensions you posted, you should be fine. That wheel is 0.5" narrower and 10mm further away from the struts, and...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

I'm still not 100% sure what my bump/roll steer looks like. A friend of mine with a shop offered to let me use his alignment rack some Saturday, so I should have access to get the car checked out. ...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Yep, I'm on stock struts. The STi knuckles move the wheel face in towards the centerline of the car, so the 17x8 STi wheels that normally fit on the SVX end up riding too close to the spring perch. ...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Sorry for the long delay... not a ton to report, I've just been living with the car half done, since my issues aren't really affecting me much just driving to/from work. Until tonight... since we're...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Sorry, nothing lately. Was pretty busy with the wedding. And since then, playing catch-up at work.

The car is driving well on the street, but still has the bumpsteer/shudder issue at the track. ...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

True. A lot of my handling issues are likely due to the worn struts. But I still would like to address the bumpsteer issue as best as possible if I'm doing one more revision of the BJ adapter, if...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Actually, I replaced the bolts and locknuts on the ball joint adapters with brand new ones. They're on there plenty tight now.

The endlink's were only tightened with a pair of open ended...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

I jumped back under the car at lunch today after checking the strut tops (they looked fine). The steering rack was nice and tight.

While under there I grabbed the sway bar and twisted it... sure...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

That's a good idea too.

Since the spindle conversion pushed the struts out a bit from their stock position, I could be torquing the rubber strut top more than it's happy with. If I tore something...

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Re: STi brakes, the brute force way!

Sorry for the long delay...

It's funny you should mention perfecting the design... because last weekend I figured out what my rub was, and it's not the tire on the fender.

The back of the...
