Re: Air conditioning Question

I did a search on AC issues on the forum and there were a few recommendations to change the sensors. Though it wasn't clear if the third sensor was the heater core temp by the glove box, or the...

Re: Air conditioning Question

Anybody have a part number for the heater water temperature sensor that mounts into the heater core under the dash by the glove box?

I found the refrigerant and evaporator temp sensors, but...

Re: Air conditioning Question

Dealer says there are no leaks. The intermittent operation is caused by compressor freezing. They recommend replacing the 3 temperature sensors. They say they'll do it if I can get the sensors. ...

Re: Air conditioning Question

Actually they only charged $240 labor, I supplied the rebuilt compressor, as the new ones were very pricey $~800 vs $390 rebuilt.

This dealer turned-it around in one day as well. And they were...

Air conditioning Question

AC on my '92 has given up. Just had a re-built compressor installed by the dealer on Friday. It worked for a little while.

But within the first day it would run for a while and then blow warm....

Transmission indicator lights

My rebuilt transmission is working great mechanically, but the gear position lights on the instrument panel are acting up. Everything works fine in gears 1, 2 and 3. But the "D" never lights up. ...

Re: Door Lock Jammed

Found it. Pulled it out, put it back in, voila, door lock works again!

All SVX issues should be so easy...

Re: Door Lock Jammed

My remote disintegrated of old age a few years back, so I haven't been using it. I'll try removing that fuse...thanks!

Door Lock Jammed

Went to open the driver's side of my '92 this morning, and the key wouldn't open it. Then I tried turning the key really hard, and forced it far enough that the handle would open it. Same when...

Re: Parts from SubaruParts.com .. ??

1stsubaruparts.com is a good alternate. Usually a little cheaper if you're buying anything over $50 or so. They aren't fast either, but I've never had either of them lose an order...

Re: AC Issues...

Mine has this problem sometimes. If I do a "hard reset" (turn the key off and then on again), the compressor comes on line. (if you do this while moving, put it in neutral, and don't lock the...

Re: installing new A/C compressor tomorrow, some clarifications needed

Turns out the conversion kit is not available from Subaru anymore. Also, those hoses are pricey, $190 for the suction hose, and the exhaust hose isn't even available (but 1stsubaruparts lists the...

Re: installing new A/C compressor tomorrow, some clarifications needed

Has anybody done a simple 134a retrofit by just replacing o-rings and fluid? I looked up the subaru retrofit kit ($350 at 1st Subaruparts.com, P/N G3110PS000). It looks like it contains a couple of...

Re: installing new A/C compressor tomorrow, some clarifications needed

How happy are folks with their converted 134a systems? I'm looking at paying for R12 or converting soon, and have heard the 134a has much less cooling capacity...

Re: AC doesn't come on

Could be a leak and no refrigerant, would that cause the blower (fan) not to come on? My other AC systems would at least blow hot air with the AC on and a bad compressor, or something...

AC doesn't come on

Warmer day yesterday, 65F (inside the car much warmer). Turned the climate control to "auto" and set temp at 65, nothing. Ran the temp up to 80, blower came on, plenty of hot air. Ran the temp...

Re: Transmission care

Michael, why did Subaru program the original TCU for such light line pressure in light cruise?

Tranny Issues

Well, the darn transmission acted up today. I had recently cleaned and adjusted my TPS and it was running great. But today it wouldn't shift out of 1st without backing off on the throttle. It got...

Re: down shifting at 80 mph

It was just the TPS!

I measured the voltage at 0.3V, adjusted it back up to 0.5V, and I've got my AWD back again. Also, it idles better, and is noticeably smoother under maximum acceleration. ...

Re: down shifting at 80 mph

Wow! I better check that. I didn't really want to stick that wire with a pin for the voltmeter, but I better do it...

I've got a question. In case the TPS is okay, and I still don't have rear...

Re: down shifting at 80 mph

My tranny was shifting in and out between 3rd & 4th, not all the time, but say 5-6 times on a 20 mile trip.

I cleaned the TPS. Marked its position with "white-out", removed it. Sprayed in a...

Re: No Rear Wheel Drive

Thanks! That's a big help. I think it'd be worthwhile to buy the transfer clutches and turn my mechanic loose on it. Now if I can just figure out what part number is what...

Re: No Rear Wheel Drive

I was thinking the transfer clutch was shot, but at 144K mies, I wonder if a partial rebuild is a better option than just replacing the clutch pack. I don't want to do it myself (my level of...

Re: No Rear Wheel Drive

No fuse, no codes. Transmission had 57k miles on it when I bought the car six years ago. I went to Mobil 1 ATF and swapped the screen filter right away. Since then I've changed the fluid twice,...
