Re: Steering rack differences

basicly if it came with leather it has the speed sensitive rack, if it didn't it has the base rack. That way you don't have to memorise the 244,000 different model names they used.

Re: VTD Auto vs 5 speed swap - effect on handling?

6spd manuals torque split depends on the year for the STi. Not sure on the non-STi 6spds.

The 04-05 USDM is 34/66 rated (dyno showed about 20/80 split though till the center diff started locking)...

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

I don't recall where I read the big writeup on the tire industry. Maybe its changed, but at least then, yes, they did do custom molds for car makers. Ford needs 1/2 a million tires for one of thier...

Re: SVX poly suspension bushes

They are the red in I think the softer. I only mentioned it as if your going racing with them you might want to rethink the polish bushings as supplied. Filling the OEM or using a larger metal tube...

Re: SVX poly suspension bushes

swaybar bushings work great. Not that bad to install either, just use a pair of jackstands to keep the whole front of the car up and the bar unloaded.

I got one side of the front A-arm bushings...

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

OEM tires are often molded shallower and with cheaper rubber compounds than the retail tires. This is so the Car maker can put a set of "$1000" tires on thier cars for as little money as possible....

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

yah, the early S8 looks like an awesome deal. Its actualy reliable without needing the disclaimer "for an Audi", and the resale makes jag owners feel bad for S8 owners. From what I've read the 02-03...

Re: Alignment shop can't get the front right camber back into spec

I personaly would just leave it at -1.7. That isn't that agressive for a street alignment unless you never corner very hard.

While I've never heard of it happening to a SVX, some cars the strut...

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

the 2 piece sparkplug issue is in the early 3v motors... like my 04 F150. Plugs are good to 100K and mechanics have figured out how to pull them without the huge labor bill now.

So far the 2v in...

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

2002-2005 Explorer V8 4wd. **** resale so they are cheap. 4.6 in the real world gets the same milage as the v6 since you never have to flog it to make the car move. 4.6 routinely hit 500K miles in...

Re: Functional Aero Kit

Its actualy for lift reduction. What normaly happens on a street car is pressure builds up in the front wheel wells and this then creates lift. Think of air as lots of foam blocks. If you keep...

Re: Functional Aero Kit

well, you can get some free wheel well venting by... making the front bumper/fender slightly wider across the front 1/2 than it is in the back 1/2 of the opening. This is how Nascar pulls out the air...

Re: Functional Aero Kit

Smooth is nice, but I'm talking about a front diffuser. Its like the rear diffuser only harder to pull off... and in the front. You couple a splitter with a front diffuser and you get LOTS of front...

Re: Functional Aero Kit

Its fairly good, but its giving up alot of potential areo if its a direct copy of the STi.

I can't see under it, but I'm doubting they integrated a front diffuser. The viper ACR and Mustang...

Re: Fiat 500 anyone?

Sadly the Fiat 500 is a cut down marketing gimic based on the much better Fiat Punto.

We don't get its larger and much nicer version though.

Re: Is the guy at Advance Auto full of it?

Um, what? no. My XJR I left the lights on for 13hrs and it still started.

Most normal sized batteries like the SVX's should be able to do that for a couple hours without an issue. If you had the...

reasonable quality for the one I looked at.

your results may vary as some of the OBX suppliers have a total lack of quality control, so one may be perfect and the next useless.
