Re: M/T Starter
Stand corrected and previous post edited.
Curious as to whether the earlier gear reduction starters mount in the standard drive location.
Is your issue more of a subjective nature or have you...

Re: M/T Starter
Factoring in the mass of the clutch/flywheel as a possible subjective cause of your drag?
Do a battery hygrometer test, check the cables for corrosion, and do an amp check before ruling out a going...

Re: Unusual SVX Sighting
Forget the svx in whatever wrecking yard it lies in. What the hell is this thing on the hood supposed to be? I stared at it's website and I'm still scratching my head.
Usefullness?
Track life?...

Re: Unusual SVX Sighting
I'm sure there are some decent parts there, but what the hell is that thing?!? Motocross meets Tank Commander? Ad agency is really stretching for that one.

Re: Frozen Brakes?
Going with the pads on this one. Anything else and you'd notice a drag/pull from one side to the other, followed by the pungent smell of pad.

Re: hood scoop thread
Looks like the used the front from a Chrysler Sebring or Dodge Avenger. Very Mitsubishi-esque rather than Subaru. Like the hard arched flares but not a fan of the front.
Rather than the center...

Re: Ignition Mechanism
My RS did this a few weeks back.
I pulled the covers for the steering column and found the cable for the trans, and tumbler pawl, had bound up locking the key in place. just a quick nudge with a...

Re: Transmission Hose - not connected?
Those are the breathers for the trans case.
Check the fluid between the trans and the front diff. Hopefully the shop was smart engough not to install ATF in both.

Re: CV headlight restorer
The 3M kit is the one I used to use at the shop, before the accident. I have their professional high-zoot unit but in reality the $15 starter kit is the same, just in a 1-time use kit.
Anyway, the...

Re: Impreza Brighton EG33 Swap on eBay
StatGSR, yes I'd like to follow up on that tach adapter.
Probably a pie in the sky, but I'm shooting to keep my a/c with my swap, albeit in a more forward location. It gets hot here in the shrub...

Re: Impreza Brighton EG33 Swap on eBay
Possibly a lurker. So much of that information is damn near spoonfed in stickys on 25rs.com or NABISCO or otherwise.
After all this time, I only belong to this svx forum and iwsti and my swap is...

Re: Impreza Brighton EG33 Swap on eBay
Wow. That is one strippy model. Not even a tach... Not that it'd work with the 6-cyl from what I read on this swap.
Sometimes, the hood is all that's left after someone beats you to the wrecking...

Re: Throttle body diameter?
Regardless of the naysayers, I'm undaunted in my approach.
Of course cams and exhaust are greatly beneficial, certainly moreso in a stock configuration, but sooner or later the intake will require...

Re: Crank Pulley Wrench--Subaru
Not likely. Every pic I've seen of the eg33's harmonic balancer has the 4 small holes recessed substantially.
An EJ22 is only recessed about a 1/4 inch.
An EJ25 has flat face.
Every Suby I've...

Re: Throttle body diameter?
So Grimmspeed cleans up the tb taper with a flapwheel but doesn't touch the butterfly? Well there's a quick way to make $130. And what's up with the $50 bbq paint job?!?
If your information is...

Asking the same question regarding bored tb's after receiving my tb from Eric.
Seems to be ~5mm worth of meat to punch out, along with the little things. Could Subaru make that throttle shaft any...

Re: WTB: Trans Dowel Pins
Cam,
Go run on down to a wrecking yard with a pair of vice grips. Any Suby, at least I'm sure of the modern ones, are all the same.
I have more than a few sitting in my toolbox.
