Re: Trouble Starting
Haven't pulled the cams yet. Mike seems to think that may lifters need to be rebuilt. We'll see. Once I pull the lifters, I'll check to see if the valves are holding pressure. If they are, then...

Re: Trouble Starting
Figured it out. My valves seem to be sticking open. May be a problem with a recent cam grind I had done, and the intake valves not seating completely. Intake stroke seems very tight, so I think...

Re: Trouble Starting
Yes. We are trying this. We pulled the injectors. The gas was new, but mixed with some old gas in the bottom of the tank. The timing and compression should be good. I'm going to check the...

Re: Trouble Starting
I still just really need to know about how fast this engine rotates with the starter and no firing. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Trouble Starting
Yes. Checked spark. I'm thinking of switching from iridium plugs to copper plugs if they are making them for the SVX. I have fuel and have checked that the injectors are firing with a mechanic's...

Re: Trouble Starting
The motor was tested before it was sent to me. judging from the amount of vacuum it pulled when I manually turned the motor, I think everything is sealing up pretty well. Even if the compression is...

Re: Trouble Starting
Yes. I've been concerned about the bearing resistance. The builder thinks it is perfect, but the starting revs on the motor are about 150 rpm which seems low??? Any idea what yours are? I should...

Trouble Starting
Having trouble starting the new rebuilt motor. I'm only running about 150 rpms at startup. Seems a bit low. Any idea what you guys are running normally at starter crankup?

Re: SVX Engine cooling "Again & Again"
It would be interesting to see photos of your setup and part numbers for the radiator. These seem to be issues for STi's as well. Perhaps some of these adaptations would help for them as well.

Re: SVX Engine cooling "Again & Again"
I made one mistake. You would need to increase the size of the pulley to reduce the speed.
The point you make is a good one regarding the radiator, but I don't know how you are going to get...

Re: SVX Engine cooling "Again & Again"
In some cases you are correct, but there are also some years of STi's that have different impellers. Do a search on Nasioc. Good info about the casing though. It would require a change in the...

Re: SVX Engine cooling "Again & Again"
Have you thought about installing an STI water pump and modifying it to work in our engine? The impeller is different than the SVX impeller. Another option would be to shave the impeller so that it...

Yes, I'm familiar with the forum and know that the discussions can be labored. I was very interested in some sort of summary conclusion, which I think I got in Desertrunner's last post, but I just...

Re: Timing belt feeler
I think the advantage of the aftermarket kevlar timing belt is that it flexes less under load, and is a bit stronger. I put one on my WRX just for peace of mind.

Reasonable may not be the correct word. The kit will retail for $700. I got it for about $660 plus shipping through AR Fab. I doubt it will be necessary unless you are running huge horsepower. ...
