Re: Radiator Needed

It'll work great..

Before I put mine in, I let the car idle, with the ventilation system off ( no fans until temp threshold ), and used the OBD2 port and dongle for an accurate temp reading. Then...

Re: Radiator Needed

I have a rad, with shroud and fans for sale. It was working fine, it was just that I am OCD anal retentive about transmission temperature. I wanted something that would keep the coolant temp at no...

Re: 1997 Subaru SVX LSi, 112k miles

Not to hijack, but I noticed a question about the VIN number..

What's the significance?

Is a higher number more valuable? Or, would it have to do with "96 production being sold in North...

Re: Trans slips

Random thoughts...

Were you there while the work was being done? Or, did you leave her unattended? Was the mileage in noted on the work order. .. how far from the shop to your house? What is the...

Re: Just Imported the Unicorn 1991 Subaru Alcyone L with 4WS into the USA

"Future Classic".. Yup... that kinda describes it.

The concept that the unicorn won't get snapped up at $6,500.00 USD is beyond mind boggling. For it's rarity ( one of 1200 with all wheel...

Re: Check engine light

Odd that the light comes on when you hit operating temperature, and, presumably, goes off after it cools down again. Traditionally, when the "Check Engine" light comes on, it stays on until the...

Re: SVX tranny

Definitely avoid the 02 WRX 5 speed.. It was the first year of the dual cone synchros, and let's just say it wasn't ready for prime time. I should know, I bought mine brand new. Replaced the trans 3...

Re: Replacing locks?

Locks? An SVX has locks? ..

Never used them since I got the car, and, I suspect, that the previous owner didn't use them either...

My battery died one day ... completely dead, (Due to fact...

Re: SVX turns off while it's running

Ditto on the MAF sensor... Been there, done that. I had exactly the same symptoms. It was just like the key was pulled out of the ignition. At low speed, I'd have to hit neutral to re start.. at...

Re: Black '94 LSi owner looking ahead

A couple of observations / suggestions for you..

A hard shift, first to second, is borderline normal for a stock transmission. So is shifting a bit earlier than would seem appropriate. A rebuilt...

Re: What else would I need to use this for a 5 speed swap?

I don't know if you've sorted out the pedal issue yet or not, but I have a pedal set for the swap that came with my SVX. I've never used it, but it was supposed to be ready to "bolt in".. I have all...

Re: Unexplained battery drains

My suggestion is that .10 to .15 amp / hr is too much for a "dark power" drain. Let's bust down some basic math.. .15 amp / hr drain is 1.5 amp /hr for 10 hours. 3.0 amp / hr for 20 hours. 3.6 amp /...

Re: Electrical or Transmission induced TCU codes??

So.. I found a problem..

Earlier I posted that the trans was pulling a "solenoid A" fault code and I was going to swap out the transmission for my recently factory rebuilt spare. So I do that, and...

Re: Site traffic

I've been debating for time about the raised comment that "banning" members contributed to the decline of the traffic here.

I wasn't here for what was probably the most acrimonious, drawn out,...

@ Chris.. Well, as it would seem that you absolutely know more about servers and bandwith and racks and stuff, by about a million times more than I do, I'm happy to leave the technical end of it...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Not quite sure what I did. I put a shift kit in my '97 almost a year ago, I started having "solenoid A ," codes. I put some Lubegard in it and that shut it up until the weather turned cold. I said...

Re: Site traffic

There's several reasons that traffic is down, to me it seems that they fall into two categories, things we can control and things we can't.

I couldn't control having just gone through a month from...

Re: Is it time to up our game?

That is what it is, I wouldn't deem to pass judgement on whether that action was right or wrong, justified or petulant, but it's not the only example of what I'm referring to.. there are a lot of...

Is it time to up our game?

I don't know exactly where to start. I joined this site for an obvious reason, I, like almost everyone else here, has something in their life that they are passionate about, a Subaru SVX. That...
