If the intake cam subgear isn't held in place when the cam is removed and the subgear "unwinds" when you put it back together the engine will sound rattly like a diesel. it won't hurt anything but it...

since you have a 5 speed in already check your ecu to find out if you already have a ecutune chip, stock ecu on decel clutch in the engine dies, but with ecutune chip it doesn't

yes coolant temp sensor is most likely, it always thinks the engine is warmed up to temp and so never "chokes" for cold starts.
The sensor is under the back of the intake manifold on the drivers...

you will need a radiator shop that doesn't mind custom work. they will ideally need to relocate the bottom mount pegs, and maybe relocate the top hose input. Though I think using a wrx top hose would...

and if you want a drop in all aluminum (for never breaking again) AMR Engineering, though they are a pain to deal with for most people.
IF you can modify the aluminum find a wrx radiator and cut...

I know the vtd phase 1, in the svx at least is 36/64

combustion pressure leaks into the coolant system but the leak isn't big enough to let water go the other way, and if there is no where for the pressure to go it stays there. And last the fluid...

Those pipes are not very long lasting, mine lasted 4 years maybe, I ended up replacing sections here and there until I found some scrap mandrel bends which I now have...
